What does daycare and school cleaning include each visit?
Every visit: playroom and classroom surfaces dusted at reachable height (shelves, sills, cubby tops, tables cleared by staff), every floor vacuumed, hard floors mopped where mopping is selected, each single-toilet or child-height washroom cleaned as a whole room ($12 each), and the kitchen counters, sink, taps, appliance exteriors and floor ($25). Toy sanitising, cot sheets and the daily disinfecting your licence requires stay with your staff.
Floors are the job
Children live on the floor, so the floors get the most time: vacuuming under tables and along walls, mopping every hard floor when selected, and mats and rugs vacuumed both sides where they can be lifted. Staff stack chairs and clear the floor before the visit.
Washrooms and change areas
Child-height toilets and sinks count as single-toilet washrooms and are cleaned as complete rooms every visit. Change tables and diaper areas are wiped down as surfaces; sanitising them between uses is your daytime routine.
The kitchen
Counters, sink, taps, appliance exteriors, cupboard fronts and the floor. Dishes, the fridge interior ($19 when selected) and food handling are separate.
How much does daycare and school cleaning cost? From $105 a visit
From $105 a visit for the office Basic under 2,000 sq ft at two or three visits a week, $175 at 2,000–5,000 sq ft, before HST. Rooms are added as their own lines: $12 a single-toilet washroom, $25 the kitchenette, mopping $15 / $25 / $35 by floor area. The worked example below, a 2,400 sq ft centre cleaned every weekday evening: Basic dusting and vacuuming of playrooms, cubbies and offices, three single-toilet washrooms, the kitchen as the kitchenette, and mopping of every other hard floor, is $271 a visit and $5,420 for 20 visits over four weeks, before HST.

How often should a daycare or school be cleaned?
Every operating day. A licensed centre is inspected on its cleanliness and children use every surface, so the evening visit is daily for most centres; a small preschool open three mornings a week can match its visits to its days.
Halton Region's public health department inspects licensed child care centres (listed under Sources), and the inspector sees the floors and washrooms as they are that morning. A daily evening visit means every morning starts the same way.
How do access, hours and security work for daycares and schools?
After the last pickup, with the alarm and lock-up procedure agreed, and every cleaner background-checked before their first visit. Children's records, medication cupboards and staff areas you name are left closed.
For a centre inside a church, school or community building, confirm which rooms and washrooms are yours to clean and which the building handles, and when the shared entrance is available.
What is not included, and what needs a walkthrough?
Toy sanitising, cots and bedding, the daily disinfecting schedule your licence sets, outdoor play areas, sandboxes and carpet extraction are outside the visit; bins, liners and consumables are agreed at the walkthrough.
The written scope lists rooms, tasks and frequency, which is also the document an inspector or a licensing visit asks for when they want to see who cleans what and when.

Do you sanitise toys and cots?
No. Toy sanitising, cots, bedding and the daily disinfecting your licence requires stay with your staff. Heron cleans the rooms, washrooms, kitchen and floors they happen in, after hours, so the daytime routine starts from a clean room.
Are your cleaners background-checked?
Yes. Every cleaner is background-checked before their first visit, and the same team comes back whenever possible so the people in your building are people you know.
Are you insured, and can you provide a certificate of insurance?
Yes. Heron Cleaning carries $2 million commercial general liability insurance, underwritten by Tokio Marine Canada, for our cleaning and janitorial work. It covers our liability for bodily injury and property damage up to $2 million for any one incident and $5 million in total over the policy year, and the current policy runs to September 13, 2027. If your landlord or property manager needs proof of insurance before the first visit, ask at the walkthrough and we send the certificate.
